No More Content Slider

That's right, I got rid of it! There were many reasons:

  • Usability FAIL.
  • Too many JavaScript calls.
  • Too many graphic elements.
  • There are better ways of doing this.
  • Updating the content slider was a manual process.
  • We never updated it. Ever.

I have a really intimate knowledge of how Blogger works now, and I was thinking I could possibly code a widget with the same functionality. Don't think so? See how some pages have unique descriptions at the top? You might be thinking, 'So what? Just match the URLs in your template.' WRONG! Who wants to open up the template, edit, then upload it every time they need to add a page description? I don't! So you know what I do? I use a Link List Widget as a database! I know it's bad form to pat yourself on the back but I'll say it: fucking brilliant!

Right, so that slider's gone now. Do you miss it?

Screenshots of the front page before and after the content slider was removed.
Here's a before and after shot of the changes.

There isn't a way to make a slider like this automatically using the Google API? I mean getting the first images from the post that is.

I actually found an automatic slider for blogger that loads fast which is pretty cool but it has conflict with jquery 3 tabbed widget on my sidebar. So I can't figure out how to get both to work. Just search google for "automatic blogger slider" if you're interested. My blog is http://www.poker006.com/

You say that you can code a widget. My question is how to make widget and add it to widget list in blogger? Can we do that? Please give me some reference about it.
Thank you very much.
