Party People at New Year’s Eve XXX-Travaganza! (Update)

Party People at New Year’s Eve XXX-Travaganza! (Update)

Update: 10 Oct 2018

So originally this entry included links to other photo blogs but they closed down a few years ago and were never crawled by the Internet archive. It’s a real shame but at least the DBB link remains.

My father once told me he was showing someone my website and this photo (two dudes kissing) was the first entry on the front page. He’d been talking up my blog to a friend saying how proud he was that I built it myself and how talented I was. Then he sees that picture and gets the shock of his life! (He’s old school, ‘nuff said.) He closed the page immediately and said some bullshit about typing in the wrong URL. He was so embarrassed! Ha ha ha, I wish I was there to witness it!

Oh, and he didn’t tell me this like it was a funny story. He was PISSED! That just makes it funnier for me. My pop and I don’t really get along, you know how that shit goes.

Update: 8 Jan 2009

Last stop kids, I've posted them all.

I'm still wearing the wrist strap. I refused to take it off until I posted all the pics but now I can't bear to part with it. I'd rather it came off by itself. It matches anything I wear so what's the harm?

Well, now that this is over with I can work my way backwards and post shots from older events.

Update: 6 Jan 2009

Fifty shots added and only 328 left to sort through! Don Hill’s was standing-room only. No wait, it’s always like that. Don Hill’s was standing-on-your-tippy-toes-room only. I feel like everybody came to this one. I saw Tré, Arsen (duh), Angelina, Joanna Angel, Pamela, DJ Jess, Andrew Ayres, Jessie Lee, Misti Dawn—wait.. Why am I listing names? This is pointless, I think literally all of us nightlife regulars were there. Shit, you were there too! I love seeing my night family gathered together.

It was a night to remember for sure!

Also be sure to check out Driven By Boredom for more pictures.

Now here's some photography tips for no reason at all.

Photog Tip #1: The Display Will Lie to You

The display of your camera is absolutely misleading; never trust the bastard thing! Some shots might look terrible on the display yet great on the computer. Even worse, shots that look great on the display could potentially have many flaws in them when viewed from your computer. It's for this reason that I bracket my shots whenever possible.

Photog Tip #2: Never Delete On Location

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Since you can't trust the display, I don't suggest deleting anything until you have a chance to see on your computer. Also, the time you spend deleting something could potentially make you miss a great moment.

Caveat: Obviously if somebody asks you to delete their photo you should comply.

Photog Tip #3: Get a Bigger Memory Card

Are you deleting shots to make room on your memory card? That needs to stop! You can buy memory cards for cheap on the Intertwat. If your camera uses SD cards don't go buying the biggest card you can find. The biggest capacity card I'd buy is 4 to 8GB. Here's why: the bigger the card you purchase, the bigger the potential loss when (not if) the card goes bad one day.

Some photogs I know are so paranoid about this they they only use 1GB cards. It's wise in theory but do you really want to be switching cards all night? Find out what's the fastest speed card you camera will support so that you don't waste money on cards outside its range. Getting a card one notch above is okay but don't pay for more because your camera won't take advantage of it.
